How to Apply
The ABC of Westport program is challenging. It is designed for highly talented and motivated students from under-resourced educational settings who have the desire and potential to succeed in high school, to pursue a higher education and to become a leader in life. Applicants should be performing very well in their current schools. Scholars have come to Westport from public middle schools in urban and suburban settings, charter schools and parochial schools.
ABC of Westport has a particular interest in applications from outstanding 8th grade students who will begin high school in the following school year. Occasionally, there may be openings for students now in 9th grade.
ALL APPLICANTS MUST APPLY THROUGH THE NATIONAL A BETTER CHANCE PROGRAM, preferably online.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HAVING YOUR APPLICATION REFERRED TO ABC OF WESTPORT, SAY THAT IN THE SECTION ON SCHOOL OPTIONS IN YOUR APPLICATION.
Application deadlines start in the early fall, and opportunities for placement become more limited later in the year. If a student, his family and his school counselors are seriously interested in A Better Chance, the sooner they all start the application process together, the better the student’s chances for consideration.
